Caroline’s Profile

Caroline Darbyshire (Music Principal)

CD Music  Academy was formed in 2002 by Caroline Darbyshire.  Caroline began her musical interests with piano lessons at age 10.  She went on to pass all her ABRSM music exams up to grade 8, in both Theory and Practical.

When Caroline left school she trained as a Show Jumper, 742634F6-6D6F-4DA9-AE22-67D445F52B7Aenjoying many successes both as a competitor and riding instructor; working with top riders and trainers throughout the country.  She came to realise her main passion was not to be a Show Jumper, but to pursue a career in music.

Her first job was working as a Redcoat at Butlins, which gave her the confidence and experience to be able to entertain in front of audiences.  This landed her a job as a music co-ordinator in America for Bunac camps: organising talent shows, musicals and gigs.  She then toured as a performer around Europe, working in Italy,  Spain, Germany and France.

Appearing in small roles on TV Shows like Brookside, The Bill and Michael Barrymore, Caroline has experience in TV and Entertainment with small speaking parts and walk-ons.

Caroline decided she wanted to go back to education to further her knowledge and career in the Music Industry.  She gained a BA (Hons) degree in Music with Media at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk and The Certificate of Teaching at The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

Caroline was part of a multi-award winning female duo called Hard 2 Beat. She was the songwriter, keyboardist and sang the vocal harmonies.  The duo performed at home and abroad for 20 years. After this, Caroline spent 7 years as a foster carer for Barnardo’s, caring for children aged 10 to 17.

Caroline is now putting all her experience and energy into CD Music Academy and CD Music UK Talent Showcases. She also graduated with a PGCE from UCLAN in July 2016.

Caroline is DBS checked and is fully insured.  She is also an Equity and MU member.
